Update – My Matchmaker Experience in Real Life
Just an update on the recent Matchmaker post I wrote a few weeks ago:
So far, I have been introduced to 4 pretty hot girls ranging in ages from 26-29 (I’m 34).
It has been almost 2 weeks and I have not yet gone out on one date. Primarily because I have been so busy with work. Last week on Monday the Matchmaker emailed me with pics and bios of the 4 girls.
With a small amount of hesitation, I opened the email expecting the worst….
To my surprise there were 3 beautiful girls (all local…or as “local” as local can be here in LA) with 3-4 pictures each. Two of them were just not my type (I’m not a sports guy….she was looking for a sports fan) and the third one really caught my eye. She had the type of personality that I was looking for and her looks matched with what I was looking for physically in a girl.
This morning I get another email and yet another hot chick and her bio awaited me.
According to the Matchmaker, all 4 girls were interested in meeting/contacting me as she showed them my picture and a small bio about me (of which I wrote in my own words).
In the spirit of truthful disclosure…..I am getting these services gratis. This Matchmaker girl is a friend of a friend and she is trying to start a Matchmaking service here in LA. I was asked to give her a review if she could match me up with the girl of my dreams. I told her that I could not give her a review on my blog (this website) but I would provide a glowing testimonial about her and her services on her own personal website.
So….assuming that she isn’t scouring LA for the best of the best (I’m a bit cynical, I will admit) in order for me to give her a glowing review….
She has accomplished in 2 short weeks what over 8 years of online dating could not: Introduce me to a girl that I’m interested in talking to.
Now here’s where I’m confused…..the 2 pictures of myself that I sent the Matchmaker were the exact same two pictures that I have uploaded to Match.com. As for my bio….A bit condensed, but essentially a short but sweet synopsis of my personality and life.
Going off attraction alone…..if any one of these 4 girls were on Match (as history has proven time and time again) they would not have given me the time of day. Yet when a Matchmaker introduces me to them, suddenly they are all interested in meeting and talking.
What gives? Is it because they feel that the Matchmaker can do better than a computer program on an online dating service and they feel more comfortable talking to me via her, than on an online dating service?
Either way, I’m still approaching this with heavy skepticism. Won’t believe it works until I see it. Besides, the Matchmaker has only gotten 1/2 of the way there. My two longest relationships with the two girls in life whom I was most compatible with (and the two hottest chicks I ever dated) were met in an online dating service.
She has come very far in a short while ……let’s see if she can hit a home run.
