Match.com vs. eHarmony Comparison

Match.com and eHarmony Comparison
Match.com and eHarmony are two of the biggest and oldest online dating sites around. Both of these dating sites are responsible for countless marriages and relationships, but that’s where the similarities stop. eHarmony is widely considered to be a “high end” dating site where people who are specifically looking for long term relationships are introduced to each other whereas Match.com is considered to be a more casual type of dating atmosphere.
The online dating process
As with anything good in life, the overall process on eHarmony is somewhat slower than the fast paced action on Match.com. eHarmony utilizes what they call a “guided communication” process in which several steps must be completed prior to having actual communication. This is so both partners can get a clear picture of who/what the other person is about and make their decision accordingly. eHarmony is great for first time online daters as they basically hold your hand through the entire process. Match.com on the other hand sets you off on your own pace and allows you to freely browse the tens of thousands of online dating profiles and make your choice as to who you want to communicate with.
Cost
eHarmony costs a little bit more money than Match.com, but can be offset by utilizing an eharmony promotional code. Match.com offers a 7 day free trial, and sometimes people do get lucky and meet that special someone before the free trial is up. eHarmony also offers a free trial, in the form of a free communication weekend. These “free comm.” eHarmony events take place every few months. They are a great way to try out eHarmony for free to decide if you wish to sign up.
How Many People Can You Meet?
On Match.com, the amount of potential people you can meet (and dating profiles you can browse through) are only limited by your desired choices in partners. eHarmony on the other hand focuses more on the compatibility of two people. Their system is designed to match quality singles whom are most compatible with each other. As such, you are not allowed to actively browse through all of their members profiles. This can be a good thing and a bad thing. It is good in the sense that you won’t get random people whom you would have no compatibility with messaging you. It can be bad in the sense that the potential dating pool is exponentially smaller than it is on Match.com.
Final Thoughts
In the end, it all depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for a serious, committed relationship with someone whom you are deeply compatible with, then eHarmony might work best for you. If however you are looking to casually date or just trying to see “what’s out there” then Match.com might work best for you. Generally speaking, I have found that the people that I met on eHarmony (when I was a paying member) were dead serious about finding a long lasting, serious relationship. The girls that I met on eHarmony did not play games. Match.com on the other hand felt like more of a casual type of atmosphere almost to the point where I felt like I was at my favorite watering hole and everyone was my friend.
